There are many people
that collect antique sewing machines. You will find that some
of them sew, and yet, some of them will just like to collect sewing
machines. There are many places that you can find an antique gem
that will remind you of what you grandmother used to sew on when
you were little. Some of them are still in working condition,
and some of them might just need a little tender loving care.
However, if you love to collect sewing machines that are antique,
you will need to know my best tips for locating them.
Estate sales are great
for finding an antique sewing machine. You will find that many
people are cleaning out their attic when you go to an antique
sale, and some of them need to sale their extra treasures so that
they can move. This is a great place to find that antique machine
that you are wanting, and you might even luck up on a treadle
machine that is still in working condition. Many of the treadle
machines were workhorses and you will find that if you come across
one to buy and take home, that you will love sewing on yours as
well.
An antique sewing machine
can also be found at an antique shop. Many towns will have a local
antique shop that is nearby, and you will enjoy going inside to
see what goodies you can find. There are some antique store owners
that will let you try out the working antique machines before
you buy them. Some of them will do this to hook you, knowing that
if you sew on the machine that you fell in love with, there is
no way that you will go home without it.
An antique
sewing machine in your home would be such a treasured antique
that you would love. If you already have one that you grandmother
left you, be sure that you have it out in the open to show it
off, and everyone that comes to you home and sees it will ask
you about it. These are great conversation starters, and you will
find that you will love talking about it and sharing it with your
friends as well.
